Many Northwest residents are represented in the House District 89 by Representative Justin Lafferty. HVPA and Knox County Planning Alliance not only monitor local planning and land use, but also legislation at the state level that affect local planning and land use.

Representative Lafferty is co-sponsoring House Bill #1412 / Senate Bill #1201 that proposes an amendment to TCA Title 4, Chapter 10; Title 6; Title 7; Title 13 and Title 65, Chapter 4 which would delete requirements for cities and counties to develop COMPREHENSIVE GROWTH PLANS.

As you know, planning for growth is a critical component in coordinating infrastructure needs of a community. Codified comprehensive growth plans, assist communities like Karns, identify area needs, ensures accountability, and provides a vision map for citizens and decision makers.
